Bonnie Solt Prunty | Staff Representative

Dean of Students, Student Affairs/Campus Life

What are some activities or groups you affiliate with that feel relevant to you?

I am actively involved in the Association for College and University Housing Officers - International where I have served two terms on the executive board, chaired the annual conference program committee, the Business Operations Conference Planning Committee and the National Housing Training Institute.

I am also actively involved in my church where I teach Sunday School and co-Chair our annual election night dinner.

What skillsets and perspective do you bring to the steering committee?

I bring multiple perspectives to the steering committee including the perspective of a long-term employee, the perspective of the parent of two IC alums and the perspective I have developed from having lots of contact with our students in my role as Dean of Students.

What motivated you to join the steering committee?

I actually really enjoy the strategic planning process. It is exciting to take time out of a busy semester to focus on what future opportunities exist for Ithaca College. I had the privilege of Co-Chairing the Middle States Self-Study process and look forward to integrating the information from the self-study into the strategic plan.

What is your major hope for the strategic planning effort?

I hope we can develop a strategic plan that helps us create an environment where all students, faculty and staff truly feel a welcomed/ engaged part of the Ithaca College community.

What do you love about Ithaca College that you hope will never change?

The physical beauty of our campus – especially the iconic fountains and Towers – are something I hope will never change.
