This asynchronous module is available for students to complete at their own pace with feedback option.
In this workshop we’ll be exploring and producing our own versions of the ten-minute play—Zoom-style. In addition to exploring some classic examples of the form, students will also be writing their own short plays with an eye toward the unique dramatic potential of various live-stream platforms (Zoom, Facebook Live, Instagram Live, YouTube, etc.). Students will have the opportunity to serve as both playwrights, dramaturges, and, if willing, actors!
James Miranda's writing has appeared in the Mississippi Review, Cimarron Review, Gulf Coast Magazine, Alaska Quarterly Review, Indiana Review, Alimentum: The Literature of Food, and elsewhere. For six years he served as the Associate Managing Editor and Fiction Editor of the New Ohio Review. He has also served in a variety of editorial roles at Quarter After Eight: A Journal of Innovative Writing, Third Coast Magazine, and Brevity: A Journal of Concise Literary Nonfiction. He is currently a Lecturer at Ithaca College and SUNY Cortland.
