Ithaca College and the School of Music are constantly developing new programs and relationships to further enhance our students' educational experiences. The following links will provide further information about some of these initiatives:
IC 20/20 is a progressive transformation of the undergraduate learning experience—a strategic plan that will prepare students to be visionary leaders, ready to take on whatever personal and professional challenges come their way. Students will select an overarching, enduring theme to inspire their core curriculum rather than simply take courses that introduce them to various disciplines. Their education will be further enriched through residential life programming, extracurricular activities, global educational experiences, civic engagement, and mentorship and advisement, which in many cases will be focused around a chosen theme.
The Integrated Core Curriculum (ICC)
The ICC is a set of common academic experiences shared by all Ithaca College students. The ICC is designed to facilitate the integration of not only a student’s curricular experiences (major, general education, electives), but also to contribute to the integration of a student’s entire developmental experience while at Ithaca College. The goal is for all Ithaca College graduates to be integrative thinkers, critical and analytical problem solvers, and reflective learners.
ICNYC is designed to let students live and gain real work experience in one of the most dynamic cities in the world. The School of Music offers two programs to allow students to spend a semester as part of ICNYC: 1) Music Immersion Program and 2) Sound Recording Technology Program.
Both programs take place each fall and are open to all students in the School of Music. Students have the opportunity to attend a multitude of professional concerts, practice in rehearsal studios, shadow studio professors, and become immersed in overall music culture of New York City.
A summer, semester, or year abroad can be a wonderful, life-changing experience. Studying abroad will enhance your undergraduate program of study, immerse you in another culture, give you opportunities to improve foreign language skills, and meanwhile allow you to earn academic credit toward your degree. Ithaca College is fortunate to have a dedicated staff at the Office of International Programs who are available to help you select a study abroad program that is appropriate to your field of study and personal interests and needs.
The London Center
The Ithaca College London Center is among the longest-standing study abroad programs in London, and it offers music students the unforgettable experience of studying in one of the greatest cultural centers in the world. Ithaca's base in London is an elegant restored Victorian house in the heart of the Royal Borough of Kensington and Chelsea. Our site is an ideal jumping-off point for exploring London, just a three minute walk to the nearest tube station.
Ithaca College-Cornell University Partnership
Separated by a distance less than 2 miles (3 km), Ithaca College and Cornell University have a close partnership that allows matriculated full-time students with prior approval and within stated stipulations, to cross-register for one course per semester.
