William I. Bauer

Dr. William I. Bauer is Associate Professor and Director of the Online Master of Music in Music Education program at the University of Florida.  At UF he teaches undergraduate and graduate level classes in music education and guides graduate research projects. A native of Northeastern Ohio, he taught instrumental (band and orchestra) and general music for eight years in the Ohio public schools. He also is the founder of the Wadsworth (OH) Community Band, conducting it for 10 years. Dr. Bauer has published in leading music education journals and presented in many venues throughout the U. S. and abroad. His book, Music Learning Today: Digital Pedagogy for Creating, Performing, and Responding to Music, was published by Oxford University Press in March 2014. Bauer is an Apple Distinguished Educator, a Google Certified Teacher, founder and facilitator of the International Society for Technology in Education's (ISTE) Special Interest Group for Music and Technology, and serves as a member of the Journal of Music Teacher Education and Bulletin of the Council for Research in Music Education editorial boards.
