Lee Anderson, ViolaLee Anderson, Viola
MM, Indiana University Jacobs School of Music

Violist Lee Anderson holds Bachelor's degrees in Music Education and Viola Performance from Indiana University, and is currently completing a Master of Music in Viola Performance at Indiana University. He is a licensed instrumental music teacher in the state of Indiana.

As a violist, Lee has studied with Stephen Wyrczynski of the Philadelphia Orchestra, Edward Gazouleas of the Boston Symphony Orchestra, and Mimi Zweig of Indiana University. He keeps an active performing career as an orchestral musician in Indiana and Kentucky, having performed with the Louisville Orchestra, Owensboro Symphony Orchestra, and the Terre Haute Symphony Orchestra. This past year, he was assistant principal viola of the top orchestra at IU and has performed with notable conductors including David Effron, Carl St. Clair, and Leonard Slatkin.

Lee has performed around the world in several music festivals, including the Casalmaggiore International Festival in Italy and Le Domaine Forget in Québec. Two years in a row, he was awarded the Fred and Jane Havens Fellowship to study chamber music at Madeline Island Music Camp in Wisconsin. As a member of the Huron String Quartet at MIMC, he was invited to perform concerts in the Minneapolis/St. Paul area as part of the camp's Artist Residency Program.

A passionate and enthusiastic music educator, Lee has been a co-director and lead violin instructor at Highland Park and Fairview Elementary schools as part of the Fairview Violin Project in Bloomington, IN. Lee has a strong background in string pedagogy that he holds as a fundamental element of his teaching. His mentors include Brenda Brenner, Mimi Zweig, and Cliff Colnot. 

In addition to performing and teaching music, Lee enjoys salsa dancing and playing tennis.
