Hey everyone! Getting excited for National Conference of Undergraduate Research (NCUR) 2011 at Ithaca College? You should be, because it's going to be amazing!

My name is Heather Mueller and I am on the planning committee for NCUR 2011. I am a senior at Ithaca College, with a major in Communication Management and Design, and a focus in Corporate Communications. I have a minor in Sociology as well. I wanted to be a part of planning NCUR because throughout college, I have found a passion for planning and executing events. I have taken many classes regarding event planning and communications, and to finally be a part of the planning process of a REAL event (rather than just hypothetical ones) is really exciting!

My tasks for planning NCUR involve the Host Event, as well as food and beverages. Every NCUR has a host event that features the location and college of where it is taking place. This year, it is at Ithaca College, and I'm looking to create a host event that really captures the magic and essence of Ithaca College and Ithaca, NY. As the saying goes, “Ithaca is Gorges,” and I really want to portray that with this event! Ithaca College has so many talented and creative students, and I want to show all NCUR attendees just how awesome Ithaca is.

Currently, we have a rough schedule of what we want for the Host Event, and the next step is to figure out how to market it! This event is not just an “add on” to NCUR, it is the big social event of the entire conference where everyone will get to know other attendees and just have a good time. We’re looking to do a dinner, show, and reception/dance as a whole package, so it is bound to be an exciting night.

There will be more to come soon with details on the Host Event. If anyone has any questions, or even something you’d like to see at the event, just let me know! Post a comment and I’d be happy to answer any questions or comments anyone may have.
