Ithaca Firsts is IC's commitment to enhancing the experience of First-Generation students and supporting them in achieving their goal of obtaining a college degree. This initiative consists of various programs, workshops, resources, and events to support our First-Gen students in a successful transition to IC as well as throughout their time here.
What is a First-Generation student?
Students (and their siblings) who are the first in their family to attend and graduate from a four-year residential college in the U.S. are considered First-Gen.
Here at Ithaca College, approximately 15% of each incoming class identify as First-Gen. For the 2018-2019 academic year, we have over 600 first-gen students enrolled at IC!
Resources for First-Generation Students
Every November, NSTP Celebrates First-Generation Student Celebration Day on campus! The event will consist of raffles, food and activities in support of First-Gen students. Join us in creating a sense of community and empowerment among the First-Generation population!
Seniors can pick up a First-Gen Cord and participate in our Senior Celebration in May!
