Board of Trustees Promotes 13 Faculty Members

The Board of Trustees recognized and promoted the following group of faculty during its May meeting.

Congratulations to the members of the faculty who have been recognized by the Ithaca College Board of Trustees. At its May meetings, the board awarded promotions to 13 faculty members.

The following faculty members were promoted from associate professor to professor. Criteria for promotion to professor include: evidence of a continued record of teaching excellence, evidence of significant scholarly or appropriate professional attainment, evidence of having attained regional or national stature in the discipline or distinguished academic leadership at the college, and evidence of significant service to the college and profession.

Roy H. Park School of Communications

Arhlene Flowers, Department of Strategic Communication, who earned her BA and MPS from New School University.

Jack Powers, Department of Media Arts, Sciences, and Studies, who earned his BA from Mount Union College, MA from Ohio State University, and PhD from Syracuse University.

James Rada, Department of Journalism, who earned his BA and MS from San Diego State University, and PhD from the University of Georgia.

School of Humanities and Sciences

Jonathan Ablard, Department of History, who earned his BA from Oberlin College, MA from the University of Virginia, and PhD from the University of New Mexico.

Elizabeth Bleicher, Department of Education, who earned her BA from Georgetown University, and her MA and PhD from the University of Southern California.

Cory Brown, Department of Writing, who earned his BA and MA from Oklahoma State University, and his MFA from Cornell University.

Cynthia Henderson, Department of Theatre Arts, who earned her BS from Troy State University and MFA from Pennsylvania State University.

Paula Ioanide, Center for the Study of Culture, Race, and Ethnicity, who earned her BA from Swarthmore College and her PhD from the University of California, Santa Cruz.

Judith Pena-Shaff, Department of Psychology, who earned her AS from Colegio Universitario de Psicopedagogia, BA from Universidad Catolica Andres, and MS and PhD from Cornell University.

Pearl Ponce, Department of History, who earned her BA from Pomona College, MA from Ohio University, and AM and PhD from Harvard University.

School of Music

Brad Hougham, Department of Performance Studies, who earned his BM from the University of Saskatchewan, MA from City University of New York, Professional Studies Diploma from New School University, and DMA from Rutgers University.

One faculty member was promoted from clinical associate professor to clinical professor.

School of Health Sciences and Human Performance

Todd Lazenby, Department of Exercise Science and Athletic Training, who earned his BS and MA from Ohio State University.

One faculty member was promoted from assistant to associate professor. Criteria for promotion to associate professor include: a sustained record of teaching excellence, evidence of significant scholarly or appropriate professional attainment, and evidence of service to the college and profession.

School of Humanities and Sciences

Kathryn Caldwell, Department of Psychology, who earned her BA from Clemson University, MA from Louisiana State University, and PhD from the University of Maryland.
