Ed Tech Day at Ithaca College to Feature Latest Computer and Communications Technology
ITHACA, NY — Ithaca College’s 21st annual Educational Technology Day will be held on Thursday, March 24, from 9 a.m. to 4 p.m. in Emerson Suites and adjoining areas of the Campus Center. Sponsored by Information Technology Services, the event offers an opportunity to learn about the latest computer and communication technologies and is free and open to the public.
Featuring local and national vendors such as Adobe, Apple, Dell, Epson, Hewlett Packard and Microsoft, Ed Tech Day regularly attracts over 1,600 people from the upstate New York region. While one of the primary audiences for the event is the higher education community, it is open to all and there is plenty of information of interest to the K-12 and business communities.
Attendees will be able to talk directly with major computer and technology vendors, explore educational applications, be dazzled by computer graphics and state of the art audio-visual systems, learn how technology is being used today in and outside of higher education, and see what can be expected in the coming years.
Running throughout the day will be over 45 seminars, tours and other educational opportunities. Some of the topics that will be presented this year include:
- Ergonomics for Healthy Computing: Improving Performance and Productivity
- Cloud Computing, Information Security and Privacy in Higher Education
- Mobility in Today’s Classroom
- Get Your Wi-Fi Ready for the iPad
- Bringing Google Apps to Campus
In partnership with the Finger Lakes Faculty Development Network, there will once again be a special “Teaching and Learning with Technology Symposium” track, with sessions specifically focusing on innovations and best practices in using technology for teaching, learning and scholarship.
