State Society on Aging of New York Names Ithaca College Professor President-elect
ITHACA, NY — Ithaca College faculty member Mary Ann Erickson has been named president-elect of the State Society on Aging of New York. Erickson will serve in that role for the 2015 calendar year and president for 2016.
Associate professor and chair of the aging studies program in the Gerontology Institute, Erickson joined Ithaca College in 2000. She holds a Ph.D. and M.A. in human development from Cornell University, and a bachelor’s degree from the University of Rochester.
Erickson’s research focuses on the influence of housing on the lives of older people, and how older people make housing decisions. Current projects include a follow-up to a longitudinal study of continuing care retirement community residents, and new research on the role of creativity in the lives of older adults.
