Find A Course and Follow the Steps to Register

Finding a Course of Interest

1. Click on this link to view Ithaca College's course roster by semester.

2. Once you have found a course, click on the course title link (found in the course title section) to find the textbook information, restrictions, meeting times, seat availability, prerequisites, etc.

3. Review seat availability under the Status field. If there are seats available on the day your registration form is processed, then you will be allowed to register for the course. If there are no seats available, the course is no longer open for registration. Waitlist seats (usually capped at five) indicate the number of students who are in line for seats over the maximum capacity for the course. A waitlist of more than 0 indicates that the course is already over capacity, and other courses should be considered. Seat availability is subject to change throughout the registration period.

Normally, students in nondegree study register for only one or two courses per semester. If you intend to register for more than two courses, approval from the Director of Extended Studies is required. You will be advised of additional approvals where necessary. Email oes@ithaca.edu to set up a meeting or phone call.

Academic Advising Support

Each of the Schools at Ithaca College house their own Academic Coordinator who can answer general questions about courses, curriculum, degree planning, and more. If you want to talk more about starting a degree program as an Extramural Student, then reach out to one of these people:

If you want to talk more in-depth about a course and its prerequisites, then reach out to the instructor.

Online Course Restrictions

Due to state licensing of online education we cannot accept online extramural students resident in Massachusetts while the online course is in session.

Employee Tuition Remission Reminder

Please view HR's website for more information on employee tuition remission. Your tuition remission form needs to be submitted prior to each semester that you wish to take a course. If you have questions, please contact HR at humanresources@ithaca.edu.

Registering for a Course

1) Submit your Registration Request Application:

  • Spring 2024 registration applications are now closed.
  • Summer 2024 registration applications are now open. Please click here to apply.
  • Please view this webpage for all fee related information.

2) Collect any required faculty or graduate program chair approvals via email and forward approvals to oes@ithaca.edu. Audits require approval of the course instructor. Approvals are also required for all prerequisite waivers and capacity overrides.

NOTE: Nondegree students don't have access to the "waitlist system" in HomerConnect, so overrides must be discussed and approved with the instructor via email.

3) Registrations for nondegree students are processed starting two days before the first day of classes for the fall and spring semesters; for summer and winter sessions, registration is processed as soon as the required approvals are obtained.

4) All enrolled students will receive via email 24 hours after receipt of a confirmation of registration from oes@ithaca.edu an Activation PIN from Registrar@ithaca.edu to activate their email, set up Netpass login credentials, and to access Canvas (Ithaca College's online course system).

5) Payment will be made to Ithaca College at the Office of Student Financial Services, once your confirmation of registration is received.

6) If you plan to register, complete and submit an immunization form, which is available from the Ithaca College's Health Center. (See downloadable form "Immunization Form for Providers".) Please view the COVID Health & Safety webpage for Ithaca College's updated Covid-19 information.

7) Be sure to stop by the ID Office, Friends Hall 109, where photo ID cards are created. The card allows you to register a vehicle to park on campus, check books out of the library, use computer equipment, and be admitted to athletic events and recreational facilities. There is no charge for an Ithaca College ID card.
