Ithaca College is committed to providing a safe environment for all visitors. The Duty to Report is in paragraph E of Section 2.8.13.8 "REQUIREMENTS FOR ALL PROGRAMS" in the Protection of Minors Policy. If you receive information or observe conduct that gives you a reason to believe that a child has been or may be abused or neglected, please take the following steps immediately:               

  1. If the child is in imminent danger, call 911, then contact the Office of Public Safety at (607) 274-3333. If the child is not in imminent danger, contact the Office of Public Safety at (607) 274-3333.
  2. Mandated Reporters are required to comply with New York State Mandated Reporter requirements.
  3. Members of the College Community and members of External Entities (third parties) who are considered Mandated Reporters pursuant to New York State law are also required to report suspected child abuse and/or maltreatment to the New York State Office of Children and Family Services (OCFS) Hotline at 1-800-342-3720.
  4. In addition to New York State Mandatory Reporters, all College employees, volunteers, and independent contractors (including all External Entities participating in Non-College Sponsored Programs on campus) who receive a specific disclosure from a person that an identifiable child is a victim of child abuse and/or maltreatment, or that a person has abused a child, are also required by the College to make a report as outlined in Duty to Report in paragraph E of Section 2.8.13.8 "REQUIREMENTS FOR ALL PROGRAMS" in the Protection of Minors Policy.
