Alternative Breaks Program 2019-2020
Hear a bit about how we’ve made an impact!
“Every year, DC Central Kitchen is so grateful for the contributions of our Ithaca college volunteers. This year’s group helped prepare nearly 10,000 meals for our community and kept thousands of pounds of perfectly safe, nutritious food out of our region’s landfills, where it would have contributed to greenhouse gas emissions. It’s so affirming to see current students giving back, asking critical questions, and working hard to have a meaningful impact in the lives of others.”DC Central Kitchen
City Blossoms and Ithaca have been partnering for IC’s Alternative Spring Break for over five years now. Each year, we love getting to meet students, returning and new, who are so passionate about food justice and environmentally based education. This year we kicked-off our spring with a small team at our Studio Garden, which serves as a learning space for our early childhood program. They were extremely flexible, jumping right into cleaning up weeds, sanding down tables, and planting spring crops. Having the Ithaca team join us brought so much joy and enthusiasm into our space! We can’t wait to host more IC Students again next spring.City Blossoms DC
