Service Initiatives

NRHH is planning lots of great service events this year! We'll update this page with Spring 2015 events as they come, but for now, here are some event we did last semester:

Birthday Mail, September

An event through DoSomething.org where assembly members made birthday cards for homeless teens

Emerson Halloween, October 27th

Ithaca College staff and faculty members are invited to bring their children to trick-o-treat around a residence hall, Emerson Hall, on campus.  Organizations provide Halloween crafts for the children to do in between getting pounds of candy!  NRHH has been a part of this event for the past four years

Pray for Coop, November and December

Cooper Levine is a first year resident on IC's campus who has recently been diagnosed with Leukemia. He has been given very good odds to overcome this trial given his age and the type of Leukemia but there is no guarantee he will be back this year to return to the community. A floor has banded together to start a campaign to make sure they can help him and his family make it through this in any way they can, starting by raising money that is being directly donated to the Levine family. They are selling t-shirts that say "#Pray4Coop" to raise money and awareness. NRHH helped in various ways, including helping t-shirt sales and helping organize a kickball game to fund raise.

Adopt a Family, December

NRHH  "adopted" a family in need this holiday season by providing presents to make for a happy holiday.

Other past events we may do again:

Hall Wars Food Drive and Hurricane Sandy Relief Meal Sign Away

NRHH and RHA got together in 2012 to put on a food drive. It was a competition between the residence halls that got as many non-perishable foods as possible to donate. The residence hall that brings in the most food won a prize. We hope to do this again this semester.

Zumbathon at Ithaca College

The Ithaca College Zumba Fitness instructors team up with IC Fit to host their semi-annual Zumbathon. Last year, the Zumbathon focused their initiatives on Ithaca's Friendship Center by taking donations of food, clothing, hygiene products and money. NRHH went last year to support this cause and our members in this project by participating as an organization.
