Orientation Guiding Principles

Orientation is intentionally created to support all new students' transition to the Ithaca community and is guided by our commitment to the following values:

Social Connections & Class Identity: Facilitating meaningful opportunities for students to connect with one another and build relationships, navigate the personal and social transition into college life, and develop a sense of school spirit.

Specific Populations: Intentionally creating spaces that allow students from marginalized identities to participate in and celebrate all aspects of themselves through affinity programming.

Academic Transition: Preparing students to be engaged learners, ready for academic success.

Family Program: Committing to quality parent, family member, and other supporters programming that informs, reassures, and establishes key partnerships.

Community Connections: Introducing students and their families to the broader Ithaca community.

"The highlight for me was seeing the mentor video and hearing the leader’s personal introductions"
