Wondering what it’s like for LGBTQ+ and allied students at Ithaca College?

The sole focus of the LGBT Center and its director, Luca Maurer, is to support our LGBTQ+ students. Ithaca College is home to a vibrant community of lesbian, gay, bisexual, transgender, nonbinary, queer, questioning, asexual, and allied students, staff, and faculty. Each year we host speakers, films, events, Pride Prom, Pride Shabbat, our popular Drag Show, and more. Ithaca has it all: history, culture, community, fun, friends, and a campus with your needs in mind. We're so glad you're coming to be a part of it and look forward to meeting you. Find out more at ithaca.edu/lgbt and on social media, and contact LGBT Center Director Luca Maurer with any questions at lmaurer@ithaca.edu.

IC Tradition: Ithacalves and Bomberbutts!

student walking down stairs

One of the first things you’ll want to learn when you arrive on campus is the easiest path to each of your classes, your dorm, and the dining halls—and, once the Ithaca winter starts to hit, the warmest path. Built on South Hill, IC’s campus is filled with long, steep staircases and uphill walks that will leave you out of breath—and over time, give you “Ithacalves” and a “Bomber butt” from all that climbing! Some great tips for getting around more easily include using “the tunnel,” which extends from Campus Center to Dillingham Center, and cutting through the Whalen Center for Music to get from the lower part of campus to Towers and Terraces! If you are injured or have physical limitations, contact IC Public Safety to request a ride to and from class.

Student Org Spotlight: First-Generation Organization

first gen students

The First-Generation Organization is a space for First-Gen students and their allies and serves to aid in their transition to Ithaca College. They help students and their families navigate financial aid and study abroad, facilitate student-alumni connections, and provide community-wide check-ins. The First-Generation Organization is an amazing resource for any student who is the first in their family to attend college.

Campus Event: Express Yourself IC

In this time of protests and pandemics, some talented IC students want to express the range of emotions they are experiencing, through song, dance, and visual art. Several current IC students will share video performances, and there will be a chance for all participants to join a discussion to express themselves, raise awareness and come together. Join us for a live-streamed event on Wednesday, July 29 at 7:00 p.m. (ET). Email mlenhart@ithaca.edu to register. #ExpressYourselfIC
