This rally cry expresses what sets us apart from our peers and what we want others to know and remember about us: our ongoing pursuit of betterment and of progress throughout all our endeavors. A Place Called Progress not only provides inspiration for our storytelling—illustrating who we are and why we excel—but, importantly, it also provides inspiration for how we want to engage with the world. Progress is what we continually reach for.

Building our Brand

You have likely seen the mantra A Place Called Progress as part of our new student recruitment marketing campaign. Now, however, it’s about to become much more. As part of our IC Strategic Plan, The Creative & Marketing Group in conjunction with Courageous Brands has embarked on a comprehensive brand review and development process.

This starts with building out our brand position – A Place Called Progress. This is the essence of our identity as a college and as a community of bold realists and innovative leaders who are committed to making a difference in the world. It’s who we are, what we do, and why it matters.

And now, it’s time to take the foundational elements of A Place Called Progress and bring it to life across the organization! To us, progress is more than a language, a message, or a specific end goal—it’s a way of life. It’s more than just a story we tell—it’s the decisions we make, it’s what we prioritize, and it’s the environment we build together.

Just What is a Brand Anyway?

A brand is more than a logo or a slogan. It is comprised of the promise we make, who we are as an organization, and what we're known for out in the world.

A successful Ithaca College brand platform will capture and communicate Ithaca College's distinct values and culture, allow us to define and differentiate ourselves as a college: who we are, what we stand for, and the profound difference our affiliations bring; and allow us to tell our collective stories in a distinct and harmonized voice, so the IC story becomes more impactful, more memorable, and the reputation of our institution grows stronger.
