Will my room ever be entered and checked by college staff?

Yes, checks of rooms are conducted multiple times per year by the Office of Residential Life; the Department of Environmental Health and Safety may also make checks. These checks are made to determine if there are any violations of campus Health and Safety policy in the room.

In the Fall, a check is conducted with room residents present in order to share information about violations directly with the residents. Closing checks are conducated in December when we close the residence halls & apartments for winter break and a spring semester round of health & safety checks occurs in late January/early February. Health & safety violations found during these checks can result in judicial referral and a fine.
