Visitor and Guest Guidelines

The enhanced health and safety protocols require significant changes to our visitor and guest policies. While it is impossible to entirely close off our campus, there will be critical changes that will be implemented and enforced during the 2020-21 academic year.

Access to our campus remains limited to current members of the Ithaca College community (students, faculty, and staff) approved to access campus and those who have been invited by the college as approved by a vice president. Approved guests must wear a face covering and maintain six feet of physical distance, and adhere to any other college health and safety protocols required as part of your visit, regardless of vaccination status.

During Residential Move-In/Move-Out

Students are allowed "helpers" to assist them when arriving and departing campus; however, "helpers" are not permitted in residence halls, residence apartments, or other buildings on campus.

Within Residence Halls

For summer 2021, we will be relaxing the visitor and guest policy within residence halls and apartments for Ithaca College students only. Visitation within and across residence halls and apartments by Ithaca College students will be permitted.

Students should arrange to meet other approved community members (students, faculty, or staff) outside of the residence halls or find alternative locations where six feet of physical distancing is possible.

Students may arrange for food delivery to their residence hall and must meet delivery personnel outside of their residential hall.

We are excited to offer prospective students and families scheduled tours of campus. Please contact our Office of Admissions for more information.

For the health and safety of our employees and students, please do not access campus buildings, the campus store, or public areas of campus unless you are part of a scheduled admissions tour.

Campus Events

Performers/speakers/guests who are not faculty, staff, or students affiliated with Ithaca College may not attend or host in-person events on campus for the summer 2021 semester. Any event featuring external guest speakers or performers should be held virtually. Some exceptions may be made for academic or camp-related programming that has been approved to occur during summer 2021.

We are beginning to accept proposals for fall 2021 events, although final decisions will not be made until later in the summer as New York State guidelines continue to evolve. Please contact Conference and Events Services for more information.

Vendors, Contractors, or Affiliates

Scheduled visitors, such as vendors, contractors, or affiliates, are permitted to continue critical business operations on campus. Vice President approval is required.

Vendors, contractors, or affiliates must wear face coverings (or heightened personal protective equipment depending upon the nature of the visit), adhere to requirements of 6 feet of physical distancing where possible, and practice good hand hygiene.

If you are a visitor that has received approval to access campus, there is a two-step registration process. First, please complete the approved visitor/guest registration form indicating the dates that you will be on campus and the name and email of your campus contact. This form should only be completed after you have received approval from your campus contact to access campus. On the day that you are approved to be on campus, please complete the daily health screening that you will receive by email prior to your arrival on campus

Guest Use of On-Campus Facilities

Personal worksite visits by family or friends are not permitted, except for dropping off, swapping cars, or delivering an item (these transactions must occur outdoors).

Campus visitors are prohibited from entering any campus facility, except in situations where prior approval is provided by the appropriate vice president. This restriction includes academic, athletic, and or other events on campus. Retiree, alumni, and other non-IC patrons of the library will be able to arrange for curbside pickup of library items.

Enforcement of Visitor and Guest Guidelines

Non-compliance with visitor and guest guidelines is a violation of the community agreement and can be reported here. Violations by faculty or staff will be subject to disciplinary processes in accordance with the respective policies in the Ithaca College Policy Manual or collective bargaining agreement covering the individual. Violations by students, both residential and off-campus, will be subject to disciplinary action in accordance with the Student Conduct Code.
