Visitor and Guest Guidelines

The enhanced health and safety protocols require significant changes to our visitor and guest policies. While it is impossible to entirely close off our campus, there will be critical changes that will be implemented and forced for the fall semester.

  • Access to our campus will be limited to current members of the Ithaca College community (students, faculty, and staff) and those who have been invited by the college as approved by a vice president.

During Residential Move-In/Move-Out

Students will be allowed "helpers" to assist them when arriving and departing campus; however, "helpers" will not be permitted in residence halls or other buildings on campus.

Within Residence Halls

Residence halls are restricted to their assigned residents and essential personnel. For the fall 2020 semester, Ithaca College prohibits visitation between residence halls and within residence hall rooms.

Students should arrange to meet other approved community members (students, faculty, or staff) outside of the residence halls or find alternative locations where six feet of physical distancing is possible.

Students may arrange for food delivery to their residence hall and must meet delivery personnel outside of their residential hall.

Campus Events

Performers/speakers/guests who are not faculty, staff, or students affiliated with Ithaca College may not attend or host in-person events on campus for the fall 2020 semester. Any event featuring external guest speakers or performers should be held virtually.

Vendors, Contractors, or Affiliates

Scheduled visitors, such as vendors, contractors, or affiliates, will be permitted to continue critical business operations on campus. Vice President approval is required.

Vendors, contractors, or affiliates must wear face coverings (or heightened personal protective equipment depending upon the nature of the visit), adhere to requirements of 6 feet of physical distancing where possible, and practice good hand hygiene. In addition, the daily screening must be completed prior to permitting them access to campus.

Guest Use of On-Campus Facilities

Personal worksite visits by family or friends are not permitted, except for dropping off, swapping cars, or delivering an item (these transactions must occur outdoors).

Campus visitors are prohibited from entering any campus facility, except in situations where prior approval is provided by the appropriate vice president. This restriction includes academic, athletic, and or other events on campus. Retiree, alumni, and other non-IC patrons of the library will be able to arrange for curbside pickup of library items.

Enforcement of Visitor and Guest Guidelines

Non-compliance with visitor and guest guidelines is a violation of the community agreement. Violations by faculty or staff will be subject to disciplinary processes in accordance with the respective policies in the Ithaca College Policy Manual or collective bargaining agreement covering the individual. Violations by students, both residential and off-campus, will be subject to disciplinary action in accordance with the Student Conduct Code.
