Academic Options for Spring '21

The spring semester will begin with remote instruction from January 25 through February 6 to coincide with a phased move-in period. Instruction will expand from remote-only to remote, in-person, and hybrid formats.

Register For Spring Courses

Please make note of the following dates:

  • October 30: Full course schedules will be available in Homer at noon (ET)
  • November 10: Registration opens. Additional information including time tickets can be found on the Course Registration site.

Students: We encourage you to schedule an appointment with your academic advisor to consider your spring course plans.

Mini Breaks in Lieu of Spring Break

While the calendar does not include a spring break, in keeping with health guidance to help limit travel and the spread of COVID-19, five “mini breaks”—single weekdays with no classes—have been scheduled over the course of February, March, and April as opportunities to refresh and recharge.

For the health of the campus and local community, students are expected to remain in Ithaca during these mini breaks, and family and friends are asked to refrain from coming to Ithaca.

Please refer to the Spring 21 academic calendar to see when these breaks are scheduled.

Need to Attend Remotely This Spring?

Students who do not feel comfortable attending classes in person may elect to attend classes remotely for the entire spring semester. Every effort will be made to academically accommodate students who elect not to return to campus due to health and safety concerns. However, some coursework may only be completed face-to-face [designated by the "F2F" modality in Homer] due to accreditation or other requirements.

Remote students whose majors require face-to-face coursework should consult carefully with advisors to design their Spring 2021 schedules with this possibility in mind, as this circumstance may require that a student rearrange their planned spring schedule or delay progress toward a degree until the coursework can be completed face-to-face.

Remote students enrolled in hybrid and online courses will be fully accommodated.
