Students working with Park Productions traveled to Intag, Ecuador in the winter of 2014 to work in collaboration with local farmers, community organizers and educators to create the award-winning Water in the Cloud Forest. The film explores the vast biodiversity of the Intag region, and the potential contamination of this unique watershed from pesticides, mining, and destructive agriculture.
The piece was recognized with two prestigious awards:
• "Best of Festival” award at the Broadcast Education Association (BEA) Festival of Media Arts. The BEA Festival of Media Arts is an international juried competition open to faculty and students. Only 17 out of 1,300 student and faculty submissions were chosen to receive this honor.
• First place from "The Smithsonian in Motion" video contest, natural world category.
Cinematographer Jackson Eagan, editor Daniel Masciari, sound designer Lucas Knapp, and motion graphics designer Zachary Briggs composed the team. Carol Jennings, Director of Park Media Lab, supervised.
