Rachel Heiss (IMC '13) and Maeghan Willis (CMD '13) Present at Regional Conference

Rachel Heiss ‘13, integrated marketing communications major, and Maeghan Willis ‘13, communication management and design major, presented an external programming session at the regional conference for the Council for Advancement and Support of Education in Affiliated Student Advancement Programs, commonly referred to as CASE ASAP, hosted in Indiana, Penn., March 3. Rachel and Maeghan traveled with 10 other students from Ithaca College’s organization, Students Today Alumni Tomorrow, joining nearly 200 other students and staff members from other colleges within the District 2 region.

Rachel and Maeghan were selected to present a session at the conference about their successes in planning Ithaca College’s first-ever Spirit Week in October 2011. Their session, “IC Spirit Week: How to Build a Successful Tradition,” had over 50 attendees. The presentation provided a case study analysis of building a tradition, showcasing the goals of IC Spirit Week’s marketing campaign and the obstacles that they had to overcome.

“It was an absolutely amazing opportunity,” Rachel said. “Maeghan and I were able to use our skills from our communications courses to create an extensive case study based on our experiences with IC Spirit Week, and then present our session at the conference. It was a great feeling to be able to share something you’re passionate about to an audience that really wants to learn from what you’ve done.”

Ithaca College’s Students Today Alumni Tomorrow is a member of CASE ASAP, which brings together more than 300 student foundations to enhance student involvement in alumni relations and communications. This was the group’s first time attending and presenting at a regional conference.
