Call for Papers -- Rod Serling Conference

"Celebrating 50 Years of The Twilight Zone," an interdisciplinary academic conference dedicated to the works of Rod Serling, is set for Friday, October 2, and Saturday, October 3, 2009, at the Roy H. Park School of Communication. Proposals for sessions are now being accepted.

Papers, panels, poster session, and other unique conference proposals for the 2009 conference are welcomed in any theme related to Rod Serling. For a list of topic ideas, visit:

The deadline for submissions is March 1, 2009.

Ithaca College, where Serling taught from 1967 through 1975, is also home to the Rod Serling Archives. The archives include an extensive collection of television scripts, film screenplays, stage play scripts, films, unpublished works by Rod Serling, and other materials vital to scholarships associated with the author and television pioneer.

In April 2006, the College presented the well-received "Submitted for Your Approval," and in March 2008, "The Life and Legacy of Rod Serling" -- both conferences focused on the creative work of Rod Serling, offering research, anecdotes and personal stories, and an opportunity to view some of the classics of early television. Come and be a part of the exploration of that unique "dimension of imagination" that is the work of Rod Serling.

Submissions should include:

  • Abstract (not to exceed 250 words)
  • Audiovisual needs
  • Short biography with daytime phone number, preferred mailing address, and e-mail address

Submit to the Rod Serling Conference Committee at, no later than March 1, 2009.
