Meet the Clinical Staff
Amy Whitney, M.A., L.M.H.C.
While completing my graduate internship at CAPS in 2004-2005, I discovered my love for working with students during their transformative college years. For the following decade, my work focused on eating disorders and co-occurring issues such as depression, anxiety, trauma, relationships, and identity; this work taught me the importance of integrating healing for body, mind, and spirit. I had the good fortune to return to Ithaca College in 2017, where I continue to learn about how we heal as individuals and in community.
I am passionate about each person’s right to explore their struggles and their wholeness, and to create the life that truly nourishes their humanity. In individual therapy and group sessions, I incorporate my training in archetypal and humanistic psychology, cognitive and mindfulness approaches (CBT, DBT), creative and expressive therapies (art, writing, movement), and body-based approaches.
Amy received graduate degrees from Cornell University and Pacifica Graduate Institute, and holds New York State licenses in Mental Health Counseling and Massage Therapy. She is also an artist, writer, and bodyworker.
