Executive Board and Internship Applications Spring 2017-2018

Dear Student Leaders,

Thank you for your interest in applying for leadership positions at IC Hillel. 

As you know there are two main categories you can apply for:

- Executive Board position (volunteer)

- Campus Entrepreneur Initiative (paid internship)

Below, find descriptions of all positions, both Board and CEI. Please note, that you can apply for more than just one Board or CEI position, but you will need to submit separate applications for that.

If you are not certain what role to apply (intern or Board member) - feel free to get in touch with any Hillel staff or current student board member.

STUDENT EXECUTIVE BOARD

PRESIDENT

  • Responsible for managing Student Executive Board and running meetings
  • Serves on the Board of Directors of IC Hillel as a Student Representative
  • Serves as the primary liaison between the Student Leadership, IC Hillel Professionals, and other Jewish Student Organizations
    1. Preferred qualification: either has previously served on boards (youth groups, nonprofit organizations, etc.) or was a president of an organization, or club before.
    2. Not a first year student

 

FINANCE VICE PRESIDENT

  • Works with Jewish Student Leadership to evaluate and fund programming and initiatives that promote the mission and values of IC Hillel
  • Assists IC Hillel in obtaining SGA and other outside funding
  • Serves on the Board of Directors of IC Hillel as a Student Representative
  1. Preferred qualification: attentive to details, interested in business, and finance

 

ENGAGEMENT VICE PRESIDENT

  • Develops and executes a strategic plan to utilize committees to further engage students of all years
  • Works with chairs of engagement on lowerclassmen, upperclassmen, women’s and men’s programming
  1. Preferred qualification: has attended Ithaca College for at least two semesters

 

RELIGIOUS LIFE AND EDUCATION VICE PRESIDENT

  • Works with IC Hillel Professionals to plan events for Holidays and additional Rel-Ed programming
  • Works with Shabbat intern to insure weekly Shabbat programming

 

SOCIAL JUSTICE VICE PRESIDENT

  • Develops and executes a strategic plan to incorporate social justice into Hillel programming
  • Focus events can include Relay for Life, The Annual Shoshana Rudnick Inch-a-Thon, ManiCURE, Feed My Starving Children, and Longview Shabbat

 

ISRAEL AWARENESS VICE PRESIDENT

  • Works with Student Alliance for Israel (SAFI) and Israel Intern
  • Responsible for Israel education and awareness through active initiatives including, but not limited to, planning Yom Ha’atzmaut, Yom Hazikaron, and Israel Day events
  • Helps with recruitment and follow through for Birthright in conjunction with staff and Israel Intern
  • Monitors campus life and publications for Israel related content

 

COMMUNICATIONS VICE PRESIDENT

  • Chairs the Public Relations Committee to provide print and social media marketing for Hillel initiatives
  • Works with Student Executive Board, Jewish Student Groups, and Hillel professionals to develop effective marketing strategies, to advertise and promote events and manages social networks
  • Takes minutes at IC Hillel Student Executive Board Meetings

 

ALL IC Hillel Student Executive Board Members are responsible for:

  • Attending weekly Student Executive Board meetings
  • Attending and actively participating in Shabbat, Holiday and major Hillel programming
  • Chairing, managing, and meeting regularly with respective committees

 

STUDENT EXECUTIVE BOARD - APPLY HERE 

 

PAID INTERSNHIP POSITIONS: CAMPUS ENTREPRENEURS INITIATIVE

All CEI interns are responsible to:

  • Build relationships with 45 Jewish students not actively involved in Jewish life
  • Plan 6 initiatives over the year that will help promote Jewish life in campus
  • Recruit for and/or attending Taglit-Birthright Israel, Alternative Breaks, and any Hillel major events

 

                                                                     Specific opportunities within CEI:

ISRAEL INTERN

  • This intern will be a liaison to the Student Alliance for Israel (SAFI) and the VP for Israel Awareness.
  • Fall: Recruitment for Taglit-Birthright Israel (including promotional ideas, personal outreach, and orientation preparation). Prepping for the two orientations. It is a plus if this intern can also participate in the winter trip.
  • Spring: Following up with Birthright participants about their experiences.
  • Israel Film Festival: planning, promoting and recruiting committee members and participants.

SHABBAT INTERN

  • Planning a service and dinner and promoting it for almost every Shabbat of the semester.
  • It is a plus if this intern can lead a Shabbat service or if they could lead Jewish conversations and learning.

INTERFAITH INTERN

  • Planning events with the greater interfaith community, and engaging in interfaith conversations.
  • This intern is encouraged to use Ask Big Questions techniques to reach the greater IC community.

ALTERNATIVE BREAK AND IMMERSIVE EXPERIENCE INTERN

  • Work with other immersive experiences that IC Hillel offers, such as Freshmen Fest, Board Bonding Programming, and any other off-campus initiatives.
  • Fall: Choosing a location, applying for grants, and other logistical nuances of planning a spring break trip either for the Jewish or interfaith community. Creating Jewish educational goals for the trip. Beginning to recruit.
  • Spring: Concluding the recruitment process. Hosting two orientation sessions for ASB participants. Planning fundraising initiatives to offset costs to students. Participating in the ASB trip and leading several conversations on the trip. Following up with ASB participants.

MARKETING/ PHOTO/ VIDEO INTERN

  • Updating IC Hillel’s website.
  • Photographing and videotaping many of our major events to be used in promotional materials.
  • Creating promotional videos, brochures or other miscellaneous materials.

WOMEN’S OR MEN’S INITIATIVES INTERN

  • Focus on creating initiatives related to women or men and bringing together Jewish Women Leaders (Jewels) or Jewish Male Leaders on campus.
  • Meeting one on one with women or men on campus to focus on leadership development through a Jewish lens, and bringing together each gender to discuss topics that are relevant to them.

DIY ENTREPRENEURIAL INTERNSHIP

  • Have an idea that doesn’t fit into any of the above listed categories that will benefit the overall IC community or the Hillel community? Share your ideas in the application below. Responsibilities for this intern will be mutually agreed upon at the beginning of the year with the engagement supervisor.
