On-going Arson Investigation

The Ithaca College Office of Public Safety continues to investigate a series of arson incidents on campus to include two recent occurrences as follows: Monday evening (4/11/11) at the exterior north exit of the East Tower between 7 and 9:30 PM, and in a Terrace 6 stairwell between 2 PM on 4/11/11 and 8:30 AM on 4/12/11. Time frames are estimated based on information received.      

On 4/9/11 the Ithaca College Office of Public Safety issued a Public Safety Alert detailing recent arson activity on campus. It is not known at this time if any of these incidents are related.

Arson is a very dangerous and serious matter. Anyone with information pertaining to these incidents is urged to immediately contact the Office of Public Safety at (607) 274-3333.







In accordance with the Jeanne Clery Disclosure of Campus Security Policy and Campus Crime Statistics Act [20 USC 1092 (f)], otherwise known as the “Clery Act,” the College is required to provide the campus community timely warning of certain crimes and other conditions that pose a serious or ongoing threat to life and safety. The College meets this notification requirement through the issuance of a “Public Safety Alert” intended to aid in the prevention of similar crimes and provide cautionary measures for the campus community. Clery crimes are as follows: aggravated assault, arson, burglary, murder and non-negligent homicide, robbery, sexual offenses (forcible and non-forcible), motor vehicle theft, and hate crimes (in accordance with Clery reporting categories for prejudice).
