Student Institute

The student institute provides a rich and nurturing program for the young "Twinkle" student as well as for intermediate and more advanced players. Enrollment is open to students studying Suzuki violin, viola, or cello literature with a teacher who has done Suzuki teacher training. Students may enroll for either or both weeks of the institute.

New this year! The advanced violin program has officially expanded its horizons! We are offering a tiered advanced violin program, catering to students ranging from Suzuki book 7 through concerti and show pieces beyond the Suzuki literature. Students, after auditioning and being accepted, will be selected for one of three tiers, each offering individualized technique classes, private lessons with master teachers, violin ensemble experience, string orchestra experience, and coachings with professional pianists. Individual courses offered this year range from practice boot camp to a solo Bach study. Each level of the advanced violin program will have courses specified to the violinists, while still maintaining involvement in the greater institute itself. Students can be recommended for daily solo recital performances, and all will perform on weekly ensemble recitals to give plenty of performance experience throughout the two week experience.

Video auditions for the 2019 advanced programs are currently being accepted! Videos will be viewed as they are submitted, as acceptance is on a rolling admissions basis. Please send your auditions to ithacainstitute@gmail.com.

Registration opens March. 4, 2019.
