A hands-on introduction to deaf studies and communication.

Have you ever wanted to learn a language but struggled with verbal languages like French or Spanish? Would you enjoy learning another language and culture in a “hands-on” environment? This online course is an introduction to the linguistic features and core vocabulary needed to develop basic communicative competence in American Sign Language.

Students are introduced to the fundamentals of ASL grammar and apply this knowledge when using ASL with fellow students. A discussion of deaf culture is infused throughout the course.
