HS Electives

Praised by the Classical Guitar Society of Upstate New York as possessing "sensitive, energetic, and thoughtful musicianship," Matthew Gillen has become a frequent prize winner at international competitions, garnering over a dozen awards in a span of five years. In concert, he has performed for Austin Classical Guitar, the Victoria Bach Festival, the Great Lakes Guitar Society, and at the historic Troy Savings Bank Music Hall. As an educator, Matthew has served on the faculty at Ithaca College, and taught as a Graduate Assistant at both the University of Texas at Austin and Florida State University. Outside of music, he enjoys walking his dog, playing annoyingly complex board games, and consuming giant burritos.
