Karly Masters is a recent graduate of Ithaca College’s Class of 2021, where she earned a Bachelor of Music in Music Education. Her primary instrument is viola, and she specializes in string teaching. She is extremely excited to be a first year faculty member at SMA. Karly completed her senior student teaching at Herricks High School in Long Island, NY, where she directed and conducted their winter concert. Her junior student teaching took place at St. Mary’s Catholic School in Cortland, NY, where she was mentored by Julie Carr. Mrs. Carr has since hired her as a substitute teacher and as the 2021 summer lesson teacher at St. Mary’s.

Next school year, Karly plans to teach strings and/or general music in a public school. Since she is a native of Buffalo, NY, it is only appropriate to note that her favorite type of chicken wings are spicy garlic parmesan. She will surely miss authentic Buffalo wings this summer, but having the opportunity to make music at SMA (in person!) will be worth it.
