Tuba/Euphonium

Christian Dow is a euphonium and tuba player from Duxbury, MA performing and teaching in the Greater Boston and South Shore area.

As a performer, Christian is principal euphonium in the Metropolitan Wind Symphony and a tuba player in the Charles River Wind Ensemble in Boston, MA. He has done previous performances on euphonium and tuba with the Southeastern Philharmonic Orchestra, Tri-County Symphonic Band, South Shore Bay Band, Royal Northern College of Music Wind Orchestra, Ithaca College Wind Ensemble, Boston College Symphonic Band and Brandeis Wind Ensemble. In addition, Christian has performed in many different ensembles of various genres and does session and freelance work in the Boston area.

​As a music educator, Christian is a low brass instructor at Duxbury High School in Duxbury, MA and a band director at Old Hammondtown School in Mattapoisett, MA. He is a low brass adjudicator/sectional coach for the SEMMEA Senior/Junior District festival and has had several students from Duxbury accepted into the Junior festival.

Christian has completed postgraduate studies in tuba performance at the New England Conservatory in Boston, MA. He received his master of music in euphonium performance from the Royal Northern College of Music in Manchester, England, and a bachelor of music in music education and euphonium performance from Ithaca College in Ithaca, NY. Christian’s principal teachers are Steven Mead, David Thornton, Kenneth Amis, Craig Sutherland, Aaron Tindall and Justin Benavidez.
