Dan Shaut 

Improvisation for All

Saxophonist Dan Shaut is a Kingston, NY native. He has taught saxophone for over a decade at the College of St. Rose and SUNY Ulster. Following a North American search, he was selected as a member of the Walt Disney World Saxophone Quintet. He was the tenor sax soloist with the award-winning Starlight Orchestra in Williamsburg (VA). As a member of the Maryland Saxophone Quartet, he toured Brazil, where he performed with Dale Underwood; and he has performed with Frankie Valli and The Four Seasons as well.

He is artistic director of the Hudson Valley Youth Jazz Orchestra and has had the privilege to collaborate with jazz greats including; Chris Vadala, Terell Stafford, Wycliffe Gordon, Aaron Diehl, Dennis Mackrel, Gary Smulyan, and John Mosca.

He has over a decade experience teaching in the Kingston City Schools. 

Shaut currently performs with; the saxophone quartet, Sax Life, GRAMMY award nominated Professor Louie and the Crowmatix and Dan Shaut Classic Jazz. He has recorded with Rusty Dedrick, Sax LifeThe Hudson Valley Saxophone Orchestra and the Napoli/Shaut Sextet
