Afternoon Workshops

American Sign Language

American Sign Language

Have you ever wanted to learn a language but struggled with verbal languages like French or Spanish? (3WK session only.)

Would you enjoy learning another language and culture in a “hands-on” environment? This workshop is an introduction to the linguistic features and core vocabulary needed to develop basic communicative competence in American Sign Language.

Students learn basic ASL grammar and apply this knowledge when using ASL with fellow students. Discussion of deaf culture is infused throughout the course.

This is a primary one-week workshop in the One-Week Summer College program. Offered as an afternoon workshop option only to three-week Summer College students.
