Sgt. Major Jeremy Schlegel, from Hanover Township, Pennsylvania, has served in the US Army as an Active Duty Enlisted Soldier since August of 2005. He earned his Bachelor of Music in trumpet performance and music education from Ithaca College in 2005. In 2008, he was assigned to the US Military Academy Band (West Point Band) as the Chief of Administration, responsible for the accession of talent, leader development, and onboarding for the 86-member musical performance organization. In 2012, he was awarded a Master of Public Administration degree from John Jay College in New York, New York, with a concentration in Human Resources Management & Leadership. Sgt. Major Schlegel began his enlisted career in August of 2005.
Prior to his assignment at West Point, he was assigned to the U.S. Army Medical Command Band at Fort Sam Houston, Texas, where he served as the Personnel and Administration Branch Chief and performed as Principal Trumpet in the Concert Band, Jazz Combo, and backup vocals in the Rock Band. Sgt. Major Schlegel earned his Black Belt in Lean Six Sigma (Process Improvement) in 2016, and is actively involved in building a process improvement community at the United States Military Academy. He also volunteers with local community organizations including the Higher Ground Men's Group, Men of St. Joseph, and the Most Holy Trinity Catholic Choir.
