Message to Students

Will You Help Us Shape the Future of IC?

I hope this message finds you well as we near the midway point of the Fall 2023 semester! I write to you today to remind you of an important upcoming opportunity that holds tremendous significance for our entire campus community. As President Cornish shared in a recent announcement to the Ithaca College community, we will be officially launching a Campus Climate Survey on Tuesday, October 17, that will help give us a better understanding of the most pressing and vital concerns of our community.

The Campus Climate Survey is an important part of Ithaca College’s efforts to foster a community that embodies our values of equity, inclusion, and belonging. Listening to and understanding the experiences of all members of our IC community is imperative. I implore you to consider contributing to this effort by sharing your unique perspective. The Campus Climate Survey is a fully confidential and anonymous opportunity for you to voice your thoughts and concerns, which will play an integral role in informing our strategic planning around policies, programs, and initiatives, truly shaping the future of the Ithaca College experience.

As President Cornish frequently says, “Students are our why.” This simple but impactful statement has been the lens through which I have approached my 30-plus years as a proud member of the IC community and why I feel so passionately about this opportunity ahead of us. Students, as the largest constituency on our campus, quite literally are at the center of this campus climate initiative. Your feedback is so important to not only tell us how you experience our campus community, but to also provide recommendations on how we can improve moving forward.

During this week, I ask you to take a few moments to visit the dedicated website for the Campus Climate Survey, www.ithaca.edu/campus-climate, to learn more about the survey process. On Tuesday, October 17, the link to the fully confidential and anonymous survey will be shared with the campus community and will also be accessible on the Campus Climate webpage. The survey will take approximately 20-30 minutes to complete and can be finished in separate segments as long as you utilize the same device. Individuals who successfully finish the survey will have the opportunity to opt-in to a drawing to receive a variety of incentive prizes.

During our last Campus Climate Survey process in 2016, our campus had a 46 percent response rate. With the engagement, energy and enthusiasm of our student body, I know we can top that number this fall!

Will you please consider sharing your voice and playing a part in shaping IC’s future? Thank you!

Sincerely,
Bonnie Solt Prunty
Vice President for Student Affairs and Campus Life
