European Travel

Travel around Europe while visiting London! Here are some options for you to consider if you're interested in getting in some extra travel in during your London trip.

Dublin

  • The Guinness Storehouse or the Jameson Factory are two great places to visit. Two world-renewed Irish exports!
  • Kilmainham Gaol – A visit to Kilmainham Gaol will take you on a journey through Irish history. You will discover the stories of people held here as ordinary criminals alongside those who fought for Irish independence.
  • Trinity College is in Dublin city centre and its ancient grounds are beautiful to walk around, either by yourself or on a guided tour. The library there holds the Book of Kells for those interested in getting a close-up of the 1,200-year-old manuscript!
  • The Phoenix Park is one of the largest walled city parks in Europe. The park is home to Dublin zoo, a visitor centre & small medieval castle, a number of cafes, lots of free-roaming deer... Oh, and also the President of Ireland and the US Ambassador's official residence!
  • Just outside of Dublin, you can visit a pre-historic World Heritage Site called Newgrange.

    Although this section is for European Travel, we wanted to include information on Northern Ireland as well. While Northern Ireland forms part of the UK and is therefore no longer part of the EU, if you are planning to visit the Republic of Ireland, then Northern Ireland is well worth including as part of that trip.
