I’m so excited to begin my studies in Advertising, Public Relations, & Marketing Communications. In the summer, I got the opportunity to stay at Montclair State University in New Jersey, where I learned from university professors, and I got to direct and edit a short film. This year I am excited to work in sports media for The Ithacan, be a member of the American Advertising Federation, care for plants and youths at the Ithaca Children’s Garden, and reach out to the underserved communities of Tompkins County. At my high school, I helped source food donations, and raised money for Part of the Solution (POTS) and Concourse House, two charities in the South Bronx, through videos that I shot and edited. Growing up in The Bronx, the poorest county in New York State, I have seen firsthand how poverty affects society, particularly communities of color. I am a firm believer in the power of media to change people’s lives. I want to use the gift of education that I have been given by this program to aid those who are impacted by poverty and create a more equitable world for future generations.
