|School of Business Student Takes Full Advantage of Opportunities|
|From internships and studying abroad, to student clubs and organizations, Jackelyn Branco '14, has made the most of her time on campus.|
Students in the School of Business have various ways to get involved and Jackie Branco, a Business Administration and Accounting double major, with a concentration in Finance, is just one example. Jackie is a member of Beta Alpha Psi and is President Elect for the upcoming academic year. She is using her double major and applying that in her role as VP of Finance for Deans' Hosts as well as a junior analyst in the Core Trading Consultants (CTCs).
You can find Jackie walking the halls with prospective students and their families as a member of the school’s tour guides or in the classroom as a TA for Legal Environment of Business. Outside of the Business School, Jackie is a tutor for financial accounting with Academic Enrichment Services.
Jackie traveled to China last summer in the study abroad program with Professor Movassaghi and is currently working on obtaining an internship in China for this summer. She also attended the spring and fall networking trips to New York City to meet the firms.
“My study abroad experience with the School of Business program was a life changing experience and the NYC trips were such a great way to meet and network with alumni.” said Branco. More travel included multiple Beta Alpha Psi professional events and the regional conference in Virginia this spring.
Jackie has completed internships at ROI Broadcasting and at Hoffmann - La Roche, in the drug management department. “I was able to use some of the skills I learned in the classroom, and apply them to the real-working world. Previously, the company didn't have an efficient way to track clinical trial material returns, and I was able to create Excel templates that easily let us match the drug shipment returns. I attribute my success to the Business Systems and Technology class." said Jackie.
She also took advantage of the opportunity to take the Bloomberg Assessment test on campus, which after passing the exam, was invited to the Bloomberg headquarters in NYC for a networking event with recruiters from Citigroup, Bloomberg and Deutsche Bank.
Next year, Jackie is planning to attend graduate school at Ithaca College.
