Overview
As countries around the world continue to be more economically interconnected,
the demand for individuals with relevant knowledge and skill sets is growing.
Companies and government agencies increasingly look for college graduates
who have developed these capabilities as part of their education. Ithaca
College's certificate program in international business (CPIB) is designed
to give a competitive edge to students who plan to pursue international
careers in such diverse employment settings as government, corporations,
or not-for-profit organizations.
CPIB's interdisciplinary approach encourages a broad perspective of the
international business world, integrating courses in the humanities, social
sciences, and business. Students will acquire in-depth knowledge of international
business practices as well as an appreciation of the culture, history,
and politics of a particular country or region.
CPIB is geared toward students who are enrolled, or planning to study,
in the
Schools of Business, Communications, or Humanities and Sciences. Within H&S, CPIB might
especially appeal to students majoring or planning to major in economics,
history, modern languages, politics, psychology, sociology, and planned
studies.
This program is designed to complement the student's major field of study
with a related concentration in international business. It requires 45
credits of coursework, equally divided into three categories of foreign
languages, area studies, and international business/economics. Successful
completion of the CPIB requirements will be noted in the student's transcript
and the student will be awarded a certificate.
