First Year Coursework and World of Business
The coursework for first year business students includes a class called World of Business. This course offers first year students the opportunity to explore several areas of business including accounting, finance, management, marketing, and international business. The course encourages students to explore interests leading to the declaration of a concentration in their second year. It also includes a business simulation exercise that provides students an opportunity to apply business knowledge. Other courses business students take their first year explore the following:
- Computer Information and Technologies
- Business and Professional Communications
- Liberal Arts
IC First Year Seminars
Ithaca Seminars are interdisciplinary liberal arts courses available to all first year students. In addition to Ithaca Seminar classes, students participate in the Ithaca Seminar Program, which provides them with common experiences that connect classroom and academic learning with other aspects of college life.
The average class size is 30 students. The School of Business and the rest of the College, strive to make the academic environment as personal as possible. Faculty easily recognize their students and can call them by their first name.
