First Year Experience
|School of Business Academic Support Services|
|We are here to help|
When faculty are not teaching, they are often found in their offices meeting with students. Each faculty member is required to hold weekly office hours to assure that they are available to assist students with navigating the academic requirements of Ithaca College. Serving as an academic advisor provides faculty with the opportunity to connect with students outside of the classroom. During the first two years, each student is assigned a faculty advisor who provides assistance in understanding academic policies and regulations, as well as college life in general. During the last two years, students work with a concentration faculty advisor to assist in exploring opportunities for internships, career connections, and professional development.
The assistant dean of student services is also available to help students with academic concerns, study abroad and transfer credit questions, academic exceptions, and campus-wide referral services.
The professional development coordinator is available to assist with identifying experiential learning opportunities and career development strategies.
Student Services Team
In addition to the support of faculty and staff, business students are encouraged to ask questions and receive walkup assistance at the student services desk located on the third floor of the School of Business. The Student Services Team hours are 9:00 a.m.–5:00 p.m., Monday–Friday.
Members of the Peer Advisors student organization serve as new student mentors. They receive training on how to assist new students with academic transition issues and are then assigned to a group of students in the World of Business class. Through assisting with group projects and making presentations on topics such as time management, registration, and student involvement, members of this organization build student-to-student connections and assist new students with the transition to life as an Ithaca College business student.
