Interdisciplinary Programs Restructured in 2011

As Ithaca College has been working toward the vision outlined in the IC20/20 plan and has continued its emphasis on integrative learning and international studies, it became apparent that the Division of Interdisciplinary and International Studies (DIIS) had successfully fulfilled its mission to engage the campus in interdisciplinary studies and distinct administrative boundaries in these areas could be removed.

As a result, the formal entity known as DIIS was dissolved in spring 2011, and its academic programs, centers, institutes, and projects—along with the phenomenal work they all encompass—were transferred elsewhere in the College. This shift places all of these elements closer to the faculty, staff, and other resources from which they drew, and ensures the continued articulation of these core principles across the entire campus.
