Kotel (Western Wall of the Temple Mount). The Kotel is part of the retaining wall
around the Temple Mount, built during the renovations to the Temple and Temple
Mount that were made at the time of King Herod (first century C.E.). It is now the
holiest place in Judaism, and the area in front of it has been turned into a synagogue.
The women's side is on the right, the men's side is on the left.
