Associate Teaching Professor of Film and New Media / Curator of Film and New Media, NYU Abu Dhabi.

Dale Hudson's research examines film and new media through transnational and postcolonial frameworks, bringing film theory in dialogue with critical race and animal studies. His work appears in Afterimage, American Quarterly, Cinema Journal, French Cultural Studies, Journal of Film and Video, Screen, Studies in Documentary Film, and among other journals and anthologies, and his reviews in Afterimage, African Studies Review, Jadaliyya, and elsewhere. He is co-author with Patricia R. Zimmermann of Thinking through Digital Media: Transnational Environments and Locative Places (forthcoming in 2015).

He is a digital curator for the Finger Lakes Environmental Film Festival (FLEFF). With Sharon Lin Tay (Middlesex University, London), he co-curated Undisclosed Recipients (2007), ubuntu.kaqala (2008), sticky-content (2009), Map Open Space (2010), Digital Checkpoints (2011), and Trafficked Identities in association with the Global Alliance Against the Trafficking of Women in Thailand (2011). He curated Distributed Microtopias in association with EngageMedia in Indonesia (2012) and is currently curating Viral Dissonance for FLEFF 2014.

He also programs films from the MENASA region for the NYUAD Institute, serves on the pre-selection committee for the Abu Dhabi Film Festival, and is faculty advisor on a special collection of films from the MENASA region from past editions of film festivals in the Arabian Gulf for the NYUAD Library.
