Cotton Road Cotton Road
Tracking the global flow of cotton, from South Carolina to China and back to the U.S. w/filmmaker Laura Kissel

Cotton Road (Laura Kissel, USA/China, 2013; 83 min.) Aa film and internet-based media project developed with Sourcemap.com about the labor and people that drive the transnational flow of cotton. Through both a linear documentary film and interactive mapping project, audiences and users journey alongside cotton’s global supply chain as it is transported as raw material from South Carolina farms to China, turned into a product, and shipped back to America for consumption. The film’s story and its interactive map creates transparency around the human and environmental costs behind the products we consume and challenges us to reconsider our rapacious desire for cheap products.
