Anthropology Professor Joel Savishinsky Publishes Article on Legacies and Intergenerational Relations
Anthropologist Joel Savishinsky, Charles A. Dana Professor in the Social Sciences and Gerontology Institute Fellow, recently published an article, "The Quest for Legacy in Later Life," in the Journal of Intergenerational Relations, volume 4, number 4. In the essay, Professor Savishinsky explores how older people from American and other cultures try to construct meaningful legacies for younger generations in their later years.The work draws on research he has done in the United States, India, and other societies with support from the National Endowment for the Humanities and Ithaca College.
