Professor Weinberg Co-authors Chapter in Mathematics Education Book
An article co-authored by Aaron Weinberg, assistant professor in the mathematics department, has been published as a chapter in the book Early Algebraization: A Global Dialogue from Multiple Perspectives.
The article, entitled Middle School Students' Understanding of Core Algebraic Concepts: Equivalence & Variable, was co-authored with faculty members from the University of Wisconsin-Madison and Notre Dame University. It describes middle-school students' conceptions of these fundamental mathematical ideas and how this understanding relates to their performance on mathematics problems.
