For the past 17 years, Ithaca College has had one student win a Fulbright Award every year or two. Last year two Ithaca College students received Fulbrights. This year—for the first time ever—three of Ithaca’s graduating seniors earned this prestigious honor.

Associate professor Michael Richardson’s book, Revolutionary Theater and the Classical Heritage, was recently released by Peter Lang Publishing. The book concerns the critical appropriation of the German literary heritage during the Weimar Republic by proletarian-revolutionary dramatists such as Bertolt Brecht, Friedrich Wolf, and Gustav von Wangenheim, and the legacy of their aesthetics in the German Democratic Republic (GDR).

Documentary maker Mara Alper (Associate Professor, Television - Radio Department, Park School) will talk about her work with the Huichol (WE-chol) tribe of Mexico. Mara has been speaking with Huichol shaman and artisans for the last eight years, and attending traditional ceremonies in the mountains outside Guadalajara. On Thursday she will screen the segment of her documentary that highlights the Huichol art. She will also talk about her experience with the Huichol and her concerns about keeping traditional cultures alive in modern times. This talk is free and open to all IC students.
