Junior Exercise Science major, James Mercer, found his writing assignment from Introduction to Developmental Psychology, "The Place I am From", published in his hometown newspaper this past February. Clearly, the story he tells of living close to the events of 9-11 and then, enduring Hurricane Sandy, resonated for his small waterfront community of Rockaway, NY - so much so that a local store is selling framed copies of his poem to raise relief money for storm victims!
