Courtney Young is an educator, a director, a choreographer and a recovered performer. This spring she will work as assistant director to Garry Hynes on 1776 for Encores! at City Center in New York City. Other recent credits include Titanic, Avenue Q, The Addams Family and Singing in the Rain. She worked as resident choreographer for Susan Stroman on The Producers on Broadway and associate director/choreographer for Robert Longbottom on Carnival at the Kennedy Center and the US national tour and Korean production of Dreamgirls. As a performer, Courtney was on Broadway and on national tours in Young Frankenstein at The Hilton Theatre, The Producers at The St. James Theatre, The Full Monty at The Eugene O’Neill, Little Me at The Roundabout Theatre Company, Cats, Fosse (US and Japan tour), and Joseph and the Amazing Technicolor Dreamcoat. She has worked at Carnegie Hall, The Goodspeed Opera House, The Papermill Playhouse, The Kennedy Center, City Center and The Old Globe Theatre. She received a BFA from NYU’s Tisch School of the Arts and an MFA from Penn State University where she studied with Susan H. Schulman.
